Because of the serious nature of neurological illness and the enormous dependency of help from others, many patients must be attended to around the clock. Our nursing care is largely based on the Bobath concept and on basal stimulation. We not only seek to treat the problems, but also enhance the patient's ability to master everyday situations, developing this competence in the context of a comprehensive care concept.
The quality of nursing standards is checked when making the round of the ward. Practical instructors, professional section heads, specially trained staff (e.g. hygiene specialists), wound-care personnel and mentors all support this work. Regular team discussions involving nursing staff, doctors and therapeutics define the primary rehabilitation targets, which can then be integrated into the nursing care.
Continuous further education and vocational training of the nursing staff establishes a high level of quality in patient care, accounting for the individual requirements and wishes of the patients.
And in cases of planned discharge of a patient, we even offer interested relatives the opportunity of nursing instruction.
