Logopaedics / Speech Therapy

Speech therapists (logopaedics and linguists) are responsible for the treatment of swallowing disorders (dysphagia), speech disorders (aphasia and dysarthria) and phonation disorders (dysphonia).

Swallowing disorders are treated primarily by logopaedics, who are comprehensively trained in our clinic in the treatment of patients with such problems. Many patients with tracheotomies or feeding tubes can finally dispense with such supportive devices and resume normal nutrition.

In such cases interested relatives can be given detailed advice and counselling. Group therapy is also carried out.

For those severely affected, the primary aim consists in the recovery of a basic level of verbal communication. Speech disorders never affect the patient alone, but also the person(s) with whom he or she communicates. For this reason, the next of kin of patients with aphasia are welcome to participate in the therapy.

Direct contact between the patient and the logopaedic is essential to this treatment. As a further help, however, use is also made of computer programs.
